North to Alaska

Ah, finally some reliable Internet access. We arrived in Anchorage on Monday night and stayed at a special place, Qupqugiaq Inn. Not a straight wall or anything in the place. It's all made of recycled and other unique materials, and the furnishings are made by craftsmen from poor, developing countries. All about ecology and inclusion.

Then I finally got to meet Chuck Sherwood, whom I met through George Lombardi and on my chess website, Papa's. Chuck bought Jan and I breakfast at Gwennie's Old Alaska Restaurant, a great intro to our largest, and 49th state. Thanks Chuck! We'll see Chuck and his wife, Lori, next week at George's for the chess tournament. Chuck brings his motor home down from Anchorage and parks it at George's every year for the Kenai Chess Challenge. It was good to chat with Chuck in person finally, and we're looking forward to spending more time with him and Lori next week.
